Anderson v1 pg464-465 - letter #488

Dear T[reitschke],

Well, the mystery how the opera Fidelio found its way to Mainz has now been solved – it was probably through the Hoftheater-Verlag – For yesterday I learnt from the gentleman, whose address I attach, that he himself bought this opera Fidelio for ten ducats at the Hoftheater-Verlag in Vienna – The worthy Count is staying at the Oesterreichische Kaiserin, put [sic] will probably leave here the day after tomorrow.

I am waiting to hear from you what measures I should adopt to deal with those wicked people.  Am I to inform Count Pálffy, or what else could be done? –

                                                       Your admirer and friend
